A DAY IN THE LIFE:
As an FPGA Engineer II, you’ll design, implement, and validate FPGA solutions that power safety-critical systems for space and high-reliability applications. You’ll work hands-on with RTL design, simulation, and lab bring-up while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate FPGA logic into complex system architectures. Your work will directly contribute to robust, high-performance designs that meet demanding technical and mission requirements.
Applicants must currently hold an ACTIVE U.S. security clearance.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Design & Implement FPGA Logic: Develop synthesizable RTL for FPGA and SoC platforms supporting sensor integration, communications, signal processing, and control systems.
- Verify & Validate Designs: Create HDL testbenches, perform simulation, and support timing analysis and closure to ensure functional correctness and performance.
- Support Lab Bring-Up: Assist with FPGA bring-up, debugging, and validation using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with systems, hardware, and software engineers to align FPGA development with overall program requirements.
- Document & Present Results: Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate design status, results, and findings to stakeholders.
- Improve Engineering Processes: Identify and contribute to enhancements in design methodologies, verification strategies, and development workflows.
- Grow Technical Expertise: Engage in continuous learning and knowledge sharing to strengthen team capability and engineering excellence.
YOU’RE AWESOME AT:
- RTL Design & Verification: Developing and verifying complex digital designs using VHDL and/or Verilog.
- Debugging & Problem Solving: Troubleshooting FPGA designs through simulation and hands-on lab validation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working effectively with engineers and project teams to deliver integrated system solutions.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3 or more years of experience working with complex FPGA or ASIC designs (including internship or research experience).
- 1 or more years of hands-on experience with VHDL and/or Verilog for FPGA design and verification.
- Experience across one or more FPGA development phases, including RTL design, verification, synthesis/implementation, timing closure, and lab validation.
- Familiarity with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or Lattice Diamond.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to technical detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing in a collaborative, team-based environment.
Proficiency using simulation tools and lab equipment for debugging and validation.
Applicants must currently hold an active U.S. security clearance.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
