A DAY IN THE LIFE:
As a Hardware Engineer II, you will be at the forefront of developing hardware solutions for spacecraft subsystems. Your role will encompass analog, power, and embedded board-level design, leveraging your expertise across multiple projects simultaneously. You will collaborate closely with software, HDL, and mechanical design teams to bring innovative products to life. Additionally, you’ll provide PCB design guidance and share your expertise in board schematic design with team members. You’ll also support the development of high-speed interfaces, contributing to cutting-edge technologies that power our space systems.

  • Designs and Develops Hardware Systems: Lead analog, power, and embedded board-level design, including debugging and testing. You will work on high-speed signal designs, using interfaces like Rocket I/O, Ethernet, and LVDS.
  • Provides PCB Design Expertise: Offer guidance to internal PCB Design teams and external design services, ensuring adherence to high-speed design rules, layout requirements, and circuit board stack-up standards.
  • Collaborates Across Disciplines: Interface with software, HDL, and mechanical design teams, playing a key role in cross-functional projects. You will assist junior engineers and help integrate complex, multi-discipline systems.
  • Creates and Reviews Documentation: Develop specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), proposals, and user manuals, ensuring they meet the high standards required for space systems.
  • Conducts Signal and Power Integrity Analysis: Perform signal and power integrity simulation and analysis, ensuring reliable operation of high-speed designs and effective performance in challenging environments.

YOU’RE AWESOME AT:

  • Embedded Hardware Design: Expert in board-level schematic design, with hands-on experience in debugging and development.
  • High-Speed Interface Design: Skilled in designing, simulating, analyzing, and debugging high-speed interfaces, and applying high-speed circuit board design rules.
  • PCB Design Guidance: Proficient in providing design advice for PCB layout, stack-up, and interface requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Excellent at working with software, HDL, and mechanical design teams, providing guidance and integrating complex systems.
  • Technical Documentation: Strong skills in creating specifications, ICDs, proposals, and user manuals, with attention to detail and clarity.
  • Mentoring Junior Engineers: Experienced in guiding and assisting junior-level team members, sharing knowledge, and fostering team development.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in hardware design, with expertise in one or more of the following areas
    • Knowledge of microprocessor architecture, programmable logic, various memory types, discrete digital logic, etc.
    • Designing, simulating, analyzing and debugging high speed interfaces
    • Work on complex, multi-discipline programs that include mechanical, electrical and firmware with a background preferably in space systems.
    • High-speed design rules for circuit boards, layout requirements, circuit board stack-up
    • Create and review specifications, Interface Control Documents, proposals and end user manuals.
    • Signal and power integrity simulation and analysis
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base pay range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, Innoflight offers a competitive compensation package that includes Profit-Sharing Bonus, Cash Performance Bonus, and a robust benefits package. Innoflight offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and life insurance. Ancillary benefits such as critical illness, accident, short term & long-term disability, pet insurance, ID & Legal Shield, Cal-Perks and EAP.   You’ll also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 120 hours of paid time off (starting in year 1) and auto enrolled into our 401K with a 3% automatic company match.
