A DAY IN THE LIFE:
The Project Engineer III will spearhead the development of space-capable products from initial requirements through to delivery. Working within a multi-disciplinary integration team comprised of Software, Hardware, Mechanical, FPGA, and Systems Engineering experts, you will serve as the primary technical point of contact for both internal and external customers. Your role involves tackling complex technical challenges with innovative solutions, providing expertise, and coordinating technical efforts across the project engineering team.
- Collaborate with Leadership: Work closely with Project Managers and Engineering Managers to define the engineering scope across all program phases, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Lead System Development: Take charge of the architecture, requirements definition, design, development, testing, and production of real-time embedded systems, guiding the team through each stage.
- Define Derived Requirements: Collaborate with the engineering team to capture and define derived requirements, ensuring clarity and completeness.
- Provide Technical Oversight: Offer technical leadership and oversight throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to delivery, ensuring high standards of quality and performance.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks at all stages of the program, proactively addressing challenges as they arise.
- Deliver Technical Documentation: Guide the engineering team in the creation and review of contractually required technical deliverables, ensuring compliance and quality.
- Develop Test Cases: Collaborate with Systems Engineering to define and develop test cases, validating product functionality and performance.
- Drive Product Development: Lead the development of new products and enhancements to existing systems, focusing on innovation and customer satisfaction.
- Software and System Solutions: Design, code, test, integrate, and document software and system solutions, adhering to established standards and best practices.
- Maintain Standards: Ensure adherence to software and system design standards in accordance with Innoflight practices, promoting consistency and reliability.
- Configuration Management: Follow established development practices to maintain configuration management and release processes for Innoflight software products.
- Engineering Leadership: Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- Project Management: Proven experience leading cross-functional projects from conception through to completion, demonstrating organizational and strategic thinking.
- Embedded Systems Expertise: Extensive experience with embedded systems development, debugging, and integration, ensuring robust product performance.
- Software Architecture Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in software system architecture and design, facilitating high-quality system solutions.
- Real-Time Operating Systems: Knowledge of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and low-level device drivers, contributing to system reliability.
- Linux Development Proficiency: Experience with Linux development environments and related software components, enhancing system functionality.
- Performance Evaluation: Proven ability to evaluate system performance trade-offs related to hardware, software, and FPGA design choices.
- Networking Protocols: Solid understanding of networking and communication protocols, enabling effective system integration and functionality.
- Sensitive Inquiry Management: Ability to effectively address sensitive inquiries and complaints, maintaining professionalism and clarity.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience and education may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Seven or more years of relevant work experience in engineering roles.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base pay range for this position is $130,000 - $150,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, Innoflight offers a competitive compensation package that includes Profit-Sharing Bonus, Cash Performance Bonus, and a robust benefits package. Innoflight offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and life insurance. Ancillary benefits such as critical illness, accident, short term & long-term disability, pet insurance, ID & Legal Shield, Cal-Perks and EAP. You’ll also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 120 hours of paid time off (starting in year 1) and auto enrolled into our 401K with a 3% automatic company match.
