A DAY IN THE LIFE:
As a Software QA Engineer II, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and traceability of software throughout the development lifecycle. You’ll execute and refine test plans, identify and track defects, and support both routine and complex software releases. Working closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Management teams, you’ll help streamline configuration management processes, improve workflows, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Your work will directly impact product integrity, regulatory adherence, and successful delivery of high-quality software to customers.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Execute Software Testing and Validation: Perform and witness software testing, execute structured test plans, identify defects, report issues to developers, and verify fixes across the full development lifecycle.
- Develop Test Plans and Test Cases: Create, refine, and maintain test cases and contribute to comprehensive test plan development to ensure coverage of functional and non-functional requirements.
- Manage Software Builds and Releases: Build software in engineering environments and coordinate deliverables to ensure proper version control, configuration, and distribution of software releases.
- Support Configuration Management Activities: Perform hands-on configuration management tasks including version control, baselining, release documentation, and maintenance of CM tools such as SVN.
- Ensure Compliance and Quality Standards: Contribute to maintaining certifications (e.g., CMMI Maturity Level 3, AS9100D) and ensure all software release artifacts meet regulatory and quality system requirements.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Applications Engineering, and Program Management teams to align software releases, implement Corrective Action Requests (CARs), and improve processes.
- Perform Reviews and Maintain Traceability: Conduct peer reviews of code and documentation, ensuring traceability between requirements, changes, and delivered software.
- Improve Processes and Tools: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance configuration management processes, tools, templates, and internal procedures.
- Support Release Documentation: Create and maintain templates for release notes, build instructions, and internal documentation to standardize processes.
- Software Quality Assurance: You have strong experience executing structured test plans, identifying defects, and ensuring software meets both functional and performance requirements.
- Configuration Management: You understand version control, baselining, and release processes, and can effectively manage software artifacts throughout the lifecycle.
- Technical Documentation: You’re skilled at writing clear, precise technical documentation, procedures, and release materials.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: You communicate effectively and thrive in environments where you partner with multiple teams to solve complex problems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in Software and/or Hardware Configuration Management (CM).
- Experience supporting or coordinating software build and release activities.
- Hands-on experience with configuration management practices including version control, baselining, and release documentation.
- Experience in software QA/testing, including test case development and execution of structured test plans.
- Proficiency in Python and/or Shell scripting for automation and process improvements.
- Strong technical writing skills for documentation and procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in engineering and/or production environments.
- Preferred: Experience supporting production and troubleshooting activities.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base salary for this position ranges from $95,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a competitive base salary, Innoflight offers a well-rounded compensation package that includes a Profit-Sharing Bonus and a Cash Performance Bonus to reward both individual and company performance.
